       The pages I read were 277-286.  In the beginning of these pages, Aunt Lydia and Offred are observing a Salvaing, which to me sounds like it's almost when people go to watch a bunch of other people get killed for amusement. This got me thinking about possible influences this book is build off of.  I know that back in ancient Rome and Greece, people would flock to see battles to the death and lynchings just for fun. Some people would just have a nice picnic with their families while watching people die. So it got me wondering if this is true, why the author would take events and practices that happened years ago that most people today find morally wrong and make it so in the future, it seems like people find it okay to do this again for whatever reasons.
